About Chef Kristopher Chavez

Chef Kris discovered his passion for food in middle school cooking classes and made the decision early on to turn that passion into a lifelong career. He honed his skills at the Arizona Culinary Institute and had the unique opportunity to train with an Iron Chef, experiences that continue to shape his perspective and dedication to the craft. With 17 years in the industry—including 10 with Fleming’s—Kris has developed a love for bold, comforting flavors, with signature dishes like lobster ravioli, Southern-inspired plates, and Italian classics standing out as reflections of his culinary personality. In the kitchen, Kris leads with a “firm but fair” mindset, fostering an environment rooted in mutual respect and collaboration. He’s committed to growing his team, coaching in the moment, and ensuring that every team member understands the value of the ingredients they work with. For Kris, a memorable Guest experience starts the moment someone walks through the door, and it’s a team-wide effort to make that experience unforgettable. He stays inspired by attending food expos, engaging with fellow chefs, and keeping an eye on culinary trends online—all while upholding the timeless spirit of the steakhouse. His favorite menu pairing—the USDA Prime New York Strip with Diablo Shrimp and Fleming’s Potatoes—reflects his appreciation for elevated classics with a signature twist. Outside of work, Kris enjoys the outdoors, concerts, sporting events, hunting, and fishing.
